Blog 02: What’s Happening?

So like I said in my last post, I’m doing a thing! Welcome to my blog!

In my last post I just wanted to introduce you all to my blog! So like I said, my name is Bailey but you can call me Bay!

Throughout all of quarantine and lockdown I started thinking to myself, “what can I do to help other teachers?”, which made me start thinking about creating a blog.

I grew up in this age of technology where I had the new fancy pink Motorola Razr flip phone in elementary school. I like to call myself a millennial, but my brothers and Ben would greatly disagree (I will admit I am a cusper, but will not say I am Gen Zer I’m sorry I can’t, I refuse). I am by no means an expert in technology, but I grew up with it! I understand how we can use technology, how students use technology, and how we can use that to our advantage. I spent this past summer quarantine working, trying to think of and create ways on how best to use technology. I learned from other teacher accounts on how to do certain things (shout out to A Primary Kind of Life). And all of that playing on my computer made me think, “hey maybe I should do that, share my knowledge or things that I’ve learned, or lessons that I’ve created that really focus on how to use technology” and so here I am!

My plan is to post about specific ways you can incorporate technology, or how to use different sources on different educational platforms like Canvas and Google Classroom since districts are all different! I’ll give life updates about my classroom and how hybrid learning is going since I have face to face and completely virtual classes! I just hope that I can help someone navigate through these unprecedented times, and all the pivoting that we have to do as educators (I know, two words that we are all tired of hearing).

I hope that with this blog maybe I can shed light on how amazing technology is, and the many, many, MANY things you can do with it! I hope that I can share lessons and insight, and maybe help someone along the way. Or maybe you just want to hear about what school life is starting to look like in 2020, the year that seems like will never end!

- Bay :-)
